Driver airlifted after SUV slams into parked truck on I-80

A woman was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries after her SUV struck the rear of a truck parked on the shoulder of Interstate 80 in Morris County early Monday, police said.

The 28-year-old woman was driving westbound around milepost 33.1 in Rockaway Township when her vehicle entered the right shoulder and hit the rear of the stopped and unoccupied box truck, according to a New Jersey State Police spokesman.

Troopers responded to the scene shortly before 3 a.m.

The woman is from the Kenvil section of Roxbury Township, police said.

The crash remains under investigation and additional details were not available Monday morning.
