CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead after striking a disabled car in Clarendon County early Monday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 3 am Monday on US 521, near the intersection on Bancroft Road, about eight miles east of Manning.
Troopers say an unoccupied 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis was disabled on US 521 after a collision with a deer when a 2011 Land Rover SUV traveling south struck the disabled car. The Land Rover then ran off the right side of the road and overturned.
The driver of the Land Rover was transported by EMS to a local hospital and later died.
The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
