Pittsburg, CA (November 30, 2024) On Friday morning, a fatal traffic crash on Highway 4 is being investigated by authorities.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the deadly crash happened at 5:33 a.m. on eastbound Highway 4.
Reports say that the deadly collision caused all lanes to close early Friday morning. The CHP issued a severe traffic alert at 5:33 a.m., with eastbound traffic redirected at Bailey Road. After more than three hours, all lanes reopened at 9 a.m.
Authorities say that the crash occurred west of Railroad Avenue when a disabled vehicle blocking the middle lane was struck by another vehicle. CHP has not yet provided additional information about the victims or the circumstances of the collision.
Drivers in the area were urged to take alternate routes and anticipate lingering traffic delays.
