Maine State Police investigate two multi-vehicle crashes

BANGOR, Maine — Maine State Police is investigating two related multi-vehicle crashes on the northbound side of I-95 in Bangor. The first crash happened just before 11 a.m. Sunday, when a car in the left lane, sped across the highway to take the exit ramp.

Officials say a driver in the right lane slammed on their brakes to avoid a collision, causing a pile-up crash involving three cars. The driver who took the exit wasn’t involved in the crash and didn’t stop.

A spokesperson for Maine State Police says the initial crash caused a secondary collision involving three other cars. Two passengers in one of the cars in the second crash were brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic was blocked for approximately an hour while authorities cleared the scene.
