Burton, MI (December 26, 2024) – A chain-reaction collision involving multiple vehicles resulted in the death of one person and left two others injured early Thursday morning on Dort Hwy, south of Bristol Rd. The accident caused significant disruptions and required an extended investigation.
Burton Police Chief Brian Ross reported that a 29-year-old Grand Blanc man driving a Pontiac Vibe was heading northbound on Dort Hwy just before 6 a.m. when he crossed the center line into the southbound lanes. The Pontiac collided with a southbound vehicle, initiating the chain-reaction crash.
A witness stopped to assist and was walking toward the scene when they were struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe also collided with one of the vehicles involved in the initial crash.
The Grand Blanc man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 70-year-old woman from Burton, who was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian who was struck by the Tahoe also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
