Man hit by tractor-trailer near I-35 exit ramp, Laredo Police say

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - A 50-year-old man lost his life in a crash on Interstate 35 early Thursday morning, December 12. Laredo police have identified the victim as Francisco Guerra, the driver of a Range Rover Evoque.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. on the southbound side of I-35 near mile marker 13. Police say Guerra had pulled over to the shoulder and was getting out of his car when a tractor-trailer drifted out of its lane and hit the Range Rover.

“The driver remained at the scene, cooperated, stopped, and rendered aid,” said Investigator Joe Baeza of the Laredo Police Department. “He called 911 and was very distraught but has been fully cooperating with the investigation.”

Guerra was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead.

Laredo police say their crash team is still investigating.

Laredo Police reported the information on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at around 8 a.m.

According to preliminary reports, a 50-year-old man was hit by a tractor-trailer on the southbound lane of I-35 near Exit 13.

The area is next to the truck stop, which is right before Laredo city limits.

Police say the LPD Crash Team was called to the scene and is investigating the incident.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of the family.
