HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The driver of a semi-truck involved in a pileup on I-94 near Hartford on Monday has died, state police said.
The Michigan State Police said that the 71-year-old Burbank, Illinois man died on Tuesday. His name has not been released.
The crash involving 14 passenger vehicles and three semi-trucks happened near mile marker 46 around 1:15 p.m. on Monday. There were 15 other slide-offs not related to that crash, MSP said.
Troopers said the crashes and slide-offs were caused by people driving too fast for the conditions along with heavy blowing snow that created whiteout conditions.
