FORT COLLINS, Colo — Three people were found dead in a burning car after a crash early Thursday morning, Fort Collins police said.
Police said just before 2:30 a.m., a Larimer County Sheriff’s deputy came upon a Volkswagen Jetta in the middle of the road in the 5800 block of South Taft Hill Road. The car was on fire, police said, and the deputy saw two people inside who appeared to be deceased. Poudre Fire also responded and firefighters put the fire out. Once they did, a third person was found deceased in the backseat of the car, police said.
Police said their investigation found the Jetta was southbound on Taft Hill Road when it drifted onto the shoulder and hit a pickup truck that had broken down and was parked on the shoulder. No one was in the pickup truck at the time of the crash, police said.
The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash.
The victims’ names have not yet been released.
