Death investigation underway after walkers find body in crashed car

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A crash in Jackson County might have killed a 33-year-old man believed to be from Eaton Rapids, according to deputies.

The crash happened in Jackson County south of M-60 near McCain Road. It was two people walking in the woods on their property who spotted the wrecked car.

Investigators said it appeared the driver of the car lost control on a curve, crossed over the highway and hit several trees before he “crashed deep into the wood line.” The car was not visible from the highway.

The unnamed man was found dead inside the car, according to the Sheriff’s Department and investigators do say they think drug use played a role in this crash. The man’s body had “been there for an extended period of time,” according to investigators.
