NEWHALL, CA (February 19, 2024) – Jose Magana Valencia was hit and killed by a vehicle on 5 Freeway in Newhall early Sunday morning on February 18.
The fatal crash happened around 2:41 a.m. just south of Highway 14. According to the CHP, Valencia’s 1977 Ford became disabled in the northbound lanes of the freeway north of Balboa Boulevard. He exited his vehicle and was struck by a 1998 Ford, driven by a 36-year-old Inglewood man.
After the crash, the driver of the 1998 Ford pulled over and called 911.
First responders rendered aid, but Valencia was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a 41-year-old Los Angeles resident, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.
No arrests were made at this time.
