1 dead after vehicle collides into stopped pickup truck along Highway 58

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Lake Isabella woman was killed after veering off the road and crashing into the back of a pickup truck along Highway 58 on Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The California Highway Patrol said officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 58, west of Washington Street, just after 12:19 p.m.

Investigators said an 85-year-old woman was traveling westbound on Highway 58 just west of Washington Street when for unknown reasons, she veered out of traffic lanes and into the back of a pickup truck stopped on the right hand shoulder of the road.

The woman died of her injuries at the scene and a man inside the stopped pickup truck was hospitalized with minor injuries, CHP said.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash.
