JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – One person was killed during a crash on Interstate 59 in Jones County.
Firefighters responded to the scene around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28 on I-59 near the 105 mile-marker.
When firefighters arrived at the location, officials with the Jones County Fire Council said they found debris from the road to the black sedan, which was 200-300 feet off the road and down an embankment.
According to officials, the single individual involved in the crash was deceased by the time first responders arrived at the location. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to remove the unidentified victim from the car.
The vehicle had severe front-end damage. Officials said it’s unknown what time the crash occurred, but firefighters believe the wreck happened hours prior to the 911 call.
Jones County deputies, the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), the Jones County coroner’s office and Jones County EOC officials also responded to the scene.
