NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -One person died in a crash in Nicholas County on Friday night, according to West Virginia State Police.
Troopers said David Erikson, of Eight Four, Pennsylvania, died after the car he was driving struck an unloaded log truck along South Route 19 near the crest of Powells Mountain, near Birch River.
Nicholas County 911 received a report of the crash just after 9 p.m. on Friday.
The log truck was parked next to the roadway with a warning flag displayed.
The crash remains under investigation.
