Two vehicle accident on I-70 sends one to the hospital

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - One person is in the hospital after a collision on I-70 Sunday afternoon.

The Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log says around 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10th a 2010 BMW driven by Fredrick E. Coffelt, 63, of Topeka was disabled in the third lane of I-70 Eastbound, 0.2 miles West of SW Wanamaker Road.

That’s when a 2014 Chevrolet driven by Dustin L. Jamerson, 42, also of Topeka was merging onto I-70 EB from I-470 Westbound, when Jamerson’s vehicle rear-ended Coffelt’s.

Coffelt’s vehicle came to rest in the second lane and Jamerson’s came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway.

Coffelt was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

Jamerson suffered no suspected injuries.
