EDISON – A Brooklyn man who was standing outside his disabled vehicle was seriously injured after he was struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 287 early Monday, according to New Jersey State Police.
The 59-year-old man was taken to the hospital, but State Police provided no additional information about his condition.
Around 12:31 a.m. Monday, New Jersey State Police were notified about a crash on northbound I-287 at milepost 1.2 in Edison.
A preliminary investigation indicates a Mercedes was traveling north on the highway when it was involved in a single-vehicle crash and became disabled in the roadway, according to State Police.
The driver exited the vehicle and was standing nearby when a Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling northbound collided with the disabled Mercedes, and then struck the driver, State Police said.
No other injuries were reported, and the crash remains under investigation, State Police said.
