Ronald Perez-Medina injured in Yukon accident on Interstate 40

YUKON, OK, (April 12, 2024) - One person died and two others were severely injured after a semi-truck slammed into two vehicles on Interstate 40 near Czech Hall Road in Yukon on Friday evening.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer was stopped on the outside shoulder of the highway due to a previous crash. A 2013 Hyundai Sonata traveling in the area slowed down for the crash, and that is when a 2016 Freightliner Semi struck the rear of the Hyundai, which was pushed into the Mitsubishi.

All the vehicles came to rest on the outside embankment, according to the report.

Ronald Perez-Medina, 42, the Hyundai driver, was transported to Baptist Hospital in critical condition.

Officials said the Mitsubishi driver was also taken to the hospital with significant injuries. A 24-year-old passenger in the Mitsubishi died at the scene.

The cause of the deadly wreck is under investigation.
