Woman Taken To Trauma Center After Bristol Twp. Crash

A North Jersey woman was hospitalized after a serious crash last weekend, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The crash occurred around 11:40 a.m. last Sunday on I-95 northbound in Bristol Township.

A 21-year-old woman from Wayne, New Jersey, was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla when she swerved onto the shoulder of the highway. The car struck a vehicle on the shoulder, hit a concrete wall, and spun across all four lanes of the highway before coming to rest against the center barrier, according to state police.

Fire crews responded to the scene and had to cut away the side of the Corolla to extricate the driver.

The Edgely Fire Company shared a photo on Instagram showcasing the rescue efforts.

The woman was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital’s trauma center by the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad for treatment of her injuries, state police said.

An investigation revealed that the woman was driving at an unsafe speed given the congested traffic conditions. She lost control of her vehicle as traffic began to stack up, according to state police.

The car was towed from the scene to clear the highway.

The woman will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed for traffic conditions, state police said.
