Valrico man killed in collision on I-75

A 74-year-old Valrico man was killed on Tuesday, June 11, after his pickup truck collided with a disabled vehicle on I-75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At about 8:40 p.m., an Infiniti Q50 driven by a 25-year-old Sanford man was traveling south on I-75 in the inside lane.

South of State Road 56, the driver lost control of the vehicle, entered the median and collided with a guardrail. Upon impact, the vehicle was redirected back into the travel lanes, where the driver exited and retreated to safety off the roadway.

The second vehicle, a Ford E250 driven by the 74-year-old Valrico man, was traveling south on I-75 and collided with the disabled Infiniti.

Transported to an area hospital, the Ford driver later died from his injuries.

The Infiniti driver was uninjured.
