A 21-year-old Texas woman was struck and killed be a pickup truck after her SUV became disabled on the 40 Freeway near Ludlow early Saturday, authorities said.
The collision was reported about 2:10 a.m. on the westbound side of the remote stretch of freeway, according to CHP logs.
About an hour earlier, authorities received a report that a Nissan SUV rental vehicle had become disabled and was stopped on the right-hand side of the roadway.
But as arrangement were being made to move the vehicle, the CHP received additional reports relaying that a woman who had been riding in the disabled SUV had exited the vehicle and been run over by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, logs show.
The victim was identified as Nicaria Gordon-Johnson, 21, of Houston, according to San Bernardino County coroner’s records.
