1 dead in Bishop Ford crash, Illinois State Police say; SB lanes closed

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (WLS) – A 44-year-old woman was struck and killed on the Bishop Ford Freeway Monday morning, Illinois State Police said.

Police responded to the scene in the southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford at 159th Street at 2:23 a.m.

Police said a driver from a disabled vehicle in the middle lane got out and was attempting to cross active traffic and was struck by a passing vehicle that remained on the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said the victim is a 44-year-old woman.

The southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford have were closed between 147th and 159th streets before reopening shortly after 8 a.m.
