Driver struck on Northway near Twin Bridges, troopers say

The driver of a disabled vehicle got out of his car near the Twin Bridges Monday morning and was struck by another vehicle, New York State Police said.

The man struck suffered injuries described as serious, but not believed life-threatening. The person was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

The incident happened just after 9:30 a.m. on the Northway northbound, just south of the Twin Bridges, state police said.

Troopers initially responded to a report of a disabled vehicle, police said.

While en route, they received additional reports that the driver of the disabled vehicle had exited and was then struck by a passing vehicle, police said.

The incident left two northbound lanes closed for the investigation. They have since reopened.

The vehicle that struck the person immediately stopped and has been cooperative, police said.
