Update: Officials identify man killed in crash on Pennyrile Parkway

HOPKINS CO., Ky. (WFIE) - The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was hit by a vehicle on the Pennyrile Parkway.

Deputies say it happened northbound at the 29-mile marker, just north of the Christian County and Hopkins County line.

According to the sheriff’s office, dispatchers received a 911 call at 3:41 p.m. with the caller saying a male had been hit by a passing vehicle.

On Tuesday morning, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that man was 59-year-old Dewey Huff Jr.

Deputies say when they arrived on scene, witnesses told them Huff had been hit by a vehicle while he was helping a semi-truck change a flat tire. Huff had finished changing the tire and stood in the right travel lane while talking with the semi-truck driver.

According to a release, Huff was pronounced dead on scene by the Hopkins County Coroner’s Office.

Officials say the crash is still under investigation.
