Crash in Martin County kills 3 people from Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Three people from Lubbock are dead after a Friday morning crash in Martin County.

DPS says the crash happened around 4:40 a.m. on State Highway 349 and mile marker 300.

DPS tells us the driver of a Kenworth truck with trailer had a blowout on the road.

The driver of truck pulled onto the shoulder of the highway to get the tire repaired. Due to the shoulder sloping down and the risk of the vehicle rolling, the driver could not move entirely off the roadway.

Officials say a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Daniel James Lindsey was going south on the highway when it hit the trailer.

The driver and two passengers, 34-year-old Chelsea Sue Clark, and 54-year-old Marcos Campos, all from Lubbock, died at the scene.

The driver of the Kenworth truck, 22-year-old Kevin Sanchez of Plainview was not injured.

DPS says no one was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and that the crash remains under investigation.
