OXFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — An early morning crash shuts down a part of a major highway in Oxford, state troopers say.
According to N.C. State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a call that a tractor-trailer hit an immobile car that was stuck on I-85 near exit 204.
The car was unable to move because it hit a guardrail and bounced off of the shoulder just before the tractor-trailer collided with it on the highway, troopers say.
Troopers also say the driver of the car reportedly exited the vehicle after hitting the guardrail to move the car, but since the airbags deployed, the car was unable to be moved in time.
No injuries are reported or arrests have been made.
The crash is still under investigation by N.C. State Highway Patrol and a simple detour is in place for the next couple of hours.
Drivers going northbound on I-85 are prompted to take exit 204 and proceed straight down the exit ramp back onto I-85 North.
