GLENDALE, CA (August 20, 2024) — Jake Huard was hit and killed by a car in a two-car accident on Highway 134 near Pacific Avenue.
According to the Calfornia Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened around 11:41 p.m. Friday. For an unknown reason, a silver-colored Mitsubishi became disabled in the middle lane of Highway 134. Subsequently, a 24-year-old man sitting in the front passenger seat exited the car. However, an oncoming black Mazda traveling in the No. 2 lane at speeds of about 65 mph crashed into the Mitsubishi’s rear. The front of the Mazda also struck the 24-year-old from Los Angeles standing outside the vehicle.
Due to the crash, Jake Huard passed away from severe injuries. His 19-year-old female driver from Pasadena was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered major injuries. The 22-year-old El Monte man driving the Mazda suffered minor injuries.
After the crash, CHP closed all eastbound lanes to investigate before reopening them at 7:15 a.m.
