Overnight rear-end crash on Kansas Highway involves 3 cars, 8 people

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - On Sunday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported a three-car crash on Kansas Highway 10 that involved eight people.

According to Douglas County, the crash happened around 1:53 a.m. on Aug. 18 on westbound K-10 Highway, near mile marker 20.

The incident started when a 20-year-old Shawnee man in a Chrysler 300 rear-ended a Lexus IS, driven by a 37-year-old man with a 19-year-old passenger.

Shortly after, a third car—a Honda Accord—hit the Shawnee man’s Chrysler, which was stopped in the road.

The Honda was driven by a 20-year-old woman and had four passengers. Two of those passengers, a 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were taken to a hospital in Overland Park to be treated.

Traffic in the westbound lanes of K-10 Highway was diverted for several hours while the cars were towed and the crash investigation was conducted.

Both the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and the Eudora Police Department assisted.
