(KRON) — The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help to locate a driver who fled after hitting a stranded motorist on the roadside.
The incident occurred Sunday at 11:30 p.m. in Hayward on southbound I-880 near the I-238 southbound exit.
According to CHP, the victim was standing on the right shoulder outside their disabled vehicle when an unknown vehicle struck them.
The driver did not stop and left the scene. The pedestrian suffered major injuries, said police.
