FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, (August 11, 2024) - A good Samaritan suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident Aug. 11 in Fort Lauderdale.
According to authorities, Yevhenii Arsirii was on his way home when he saw someone pushing a truck along Northwest 6th Street. Arsirii got out to help push the vehicle, which had run out of gas, when he was struck by another vehicle.
Arsirii’s right leg has been amputated as doctors work to save his left leg. He has had several surgeries.
The driver got out of the car and walked away, according to Fort Lauderdale police.
Arsirii, now at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, is focused on healing while authorities search for the driver.
