Covington, Tx (FOX44) – A 44-year-old man was killed early Tuesday in Hill County when a disabled pickup truck was struck by another vehicle, striking the victim.
Christopher Lozano was pronounced dead at the scene on State Highway 171 northwest of Covington in Hill County.
Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ryan Howard said it happened about 12:28 a.m. Tuesday. He said a Chevrolet pickup was going north on Highway 171 when it developed mechanical problems, leaving it disabled in the roadway. The occupants had gotten out the vehicle safely when shortly afterward a Dodge Ram pickup collided with the Chevrolet causing the Chevy truck to spin and strike Lozano.
No other injuries were reported.
Sgt Howard advised motorists that if they are in a crash or experience vehicle issues that have caused traffic blockage or pose a danger to other motorists, call 911 immediately. First responders will be able to manage the scene, help prevent secondary crashes, and ensure all are safe.
