CENTRAL, La. (WAFB) - A pedestrian is dead following a major crash in Central on Thursday evening, Sept. 26.
The Central Police Department responded to the crash around 6:08 p.m. at Magnolia Bridge Road and Greenwell Springs Road.
According to Chief Roger Corcoran, the pedestrian was changing a tire on the North shoulder headed west when they were struck by another vehicle headed the same direction. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
Toxicology samples will be taken from the driver of the vehicle, according to officials.
The east and west sides of Magnolia Bridge were blocked as authorities investigated, but have since reopened. Intermittent, temporary road closures may be possible as the on-scene investigation continues.
