UNION COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - Two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash, Wednesday night on I-84, near milepost 279, according to Oregon State Police (OSP).
The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. and blocked the interstate for several hours.
OSP found that a Mack semi-truck and trailer, driven by 60-year-old Robert Kenyon of Nampa, Idaho, was stopped at a chain-up area installing chains on his truck because of road conditions.
When a westbound Freightliner semi-truck and trailer, driven by 47-year-old Steven Botter of Spokane, WA, left the road for an unknown reason and hit the parked Mack.
Another westbound Freightliner semi-truck and trailer, driven by 28-year-old Sing Manvir of Fresno, CA, hit both trucks from the first crash as they attempted to get on the road.
The driver of the Mack, Kenyon was declared dead at the scene. Botter, the driver of one of the Freightliner was declared dead at the scene.
Manvir, the driver of the other Freightliner was taken to a hospital, their condition is unknown.
The Interstate was stalled for about ten hours during the investigation.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
