An El Paso woman has died after a Wednesday afternoon crash in Lubbock County, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release issued Thursday.
About 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, officials arrived in the area of US Highway 62/82 and County Road 6300. A preliminary investigation determined that a 2018 Acura RDX had been parked on the eastbound shoulder of the highway. A 2020 Ford F250, which was towing a utility trailer, was driving east on the highway.
The Ford hit the back of the Acura, and both vehicles traveled across the barrow ditch before stopping on County Road 6300, south of the highway.
Virginia Castano-Marquez, 64 of El Paso, was the Acura driver and was pronounced dead at the scene The driver of the Ford was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock with minor injuries.
The release stated the weather was cloudy with light rain and the road condition was wet.
