ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A pedestrian was killed early Monday morning in a three-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 270 in Florissant.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, two crashes occurred around 2 a.m. near Exit 28 at Elizabeth Avenue and Washington Street.
There was an abandoned vehicle on the left side of the road when the first crash occurred, and an alleged drunk driver hit the abandoned car and overturned.
A passenger in the vehicle got out and was struck and killed by a third vehicle. The driver of the overturned vehicle was arrested for DWI.
MSHP Trooper said the driver who struck the pedestrian stayed on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Much of I-270 EB was blocked off before Exit 28 but reopened around 7 a.m.
