Three killed in multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in Oregon

UNION COUNTY, Ore — A three-vehicle collision on Interstate 84 claimed the lives of two drivers and left another injured late Wednesday night, the Oregon State Police report.

The crash occurred near milepost 279 in Union County, prompting a response from Oregon State Police.

Authorities said the incident began when Robert Fred Kenyon, 60, of Nampa, Idaho, stopped his Mack commercial vehicle and trailer at a chain-up area to install chains due to adverse roadway conditions.

A westbound Freightliner, driven by Steven Bradly Botter, 47, of Spokane, Washington, veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and collided with Kenyon’s parked vehicle.

Subsequently, another westbound Freightliner, operated by Sing Manvir, 28, of Fresno, California, struck the vehicles involved in the initial collision as they re-entered the roadway.

Both Kenyon and Botter were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Manvir was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The crash blocked the interstate for several hours, with the roadway impacted for approximately 10 hours during the on-scene investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with assistance from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
