SWAN VALLEY — A 30-year-old Idaho Falls man died Monday morning when he struck a cow and his disabled vehicle was then hit by a pickup truck, state police said.
The man, driving a 2010 Volkswagen CC, hit a cow on the roadway near Swan Valley around 6:55 a.m. and became disabled in the travel lane state police said, adding that a 2019 Ram 2500 pickup then struck the Volkswagen in thick fog and darkness.
The Volkswagen driver died at the scene and the 19-year-old Ram driver from Idaho Falls was not injured, according to state police. Both were wearing seatbelts.
Highway was closed for about four hours during the investigation, which continues.
