Meriden man dies after being hit by car on I-91 north in Windsor

WINDSOR, Conn. — A Meriden man died after a car hit him on Interstate 91 north in Windsor Saturday evening, according to Connecticut State Police.

The collision happened on the highway in the area of exit 40 just after 7 p.m.

Investigators learned that a Chevrolet Impala was traveling in the left lane of four while a pedestrian, who state police identified as Santiago Jimenez, 30, of Meriden, was standing in the left shoulder following a prior crash.

For an unknown reason, Jimenez went into the travel lane and the Chevrolet hit him, state police said. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries where he was later pronounced dead.

The Chevrolet came to a stop in the left shoulder following the crash. The driver and passenger had no injuries.

State police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash camera footage to contact Connecticut State Police Troop H at 860-534-1000.
