KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — Troopers have identified a man who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run on the West Virginia Turnpike on Friday.
Jack Walter, 63, of Middlesex, N.C., was killed when he was struck by a vehicle near the 63 mile marker of the West Virginia Turnpike, according to West Virginia State Police.
Family members told WCHS Walter was traveling from his home in North Carolina to meet friends and family in Cincinnati, Ohio, for an NFL game. They believe he was changing a flat tire when he was struck.
Investigators are still searching for the vehicle involved in the incident.
Troopers said debris at the scene of the crash indicated a white tractor trailer was involved.
