Missouri man hit by car, killed while standing behind stopped truck after dark

HENRY COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) - State officials have reported a deadly crash on a two-lane road in rural Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene shortly before 7 p.m. on Nov. 4.

According to a report, a 1984 Chevrolet 2500 was stopped in the eastbound lanes of Route C with its lights off. A 50-year-old Warrensburg man was standing behind the truck when another car driving east, a Toyota Corolla, hit the man before rear-ending the truck.

The 20-year-old driving the Toyota suffered moderate injuries, and his car was totaled. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

MSHP said the Warrensburg man died at the scene. His identity was not released, but his next of kin has been notified. It is unclear why he was stopped in the road.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
