Northbound Interstate 35 shut down near Bruceville-Eddy after traffic collision

BRUCEVILLE-EDDY, Texas — UPDATE: (9:15 a.m.) Officials have begun the process of reopening the northbound Interstate 35 lanes closed as a result of a traffic accident.

According to TxDOT officials, Troopers responded to a three vehicle crash at around 7:45 a.m. near mile marker 317 in Bruceville-Eddy. According to authorities, the accident occurred when a semi-truck that had been parked on the shoulder of the road was struck by a waste management truck. The waste management truck then also went on to hit a Ford Bronco, causing a three car pile up.

The driver of the waste management truck was initially stuck inside their vehicle and required assistance from emergency service personnel to be freed.

The driver of the waste management truck, as well as the drivers in the Ford Bronco and semi-truck were transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
