ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Alexandria Police Department said they are investigating a fatal crash involving three cars on I-49 over the weekend.
APD said Danielle Jones, 28, was driving southbound on November 30 around 4:29 a.m. when the vehicle (a GMC Acadia) left the road and hit a guardrail. The impact caused the vehicle to become disabled in the middle of the road.
Shortly after, due to heavy rainfall and reduced visibility, the Acadia was hit by two other vehicles.
Jones had critical injuries from the crashes and was taken to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.
The investigation into this crash is still ongoing.
