Coroner identifies man killed on I-84

BOISE, Idaho — Update: The Ada County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the man who died after exiting his vehicle on Interstate 84.

Samson Edwards, 23, from Meridian, was pronounced dead at mile marker 42 on I-84 early Monday morning. He died from blunt-force injuries, with his manner of death being accidental.

Idaho State Police (ISP) reported that on Feb. 10 around 2:30 in the morning, a Kia Rio and a Subaru Impreza were traveling west on I-84. The Kia struck the rear end of the Subaru, said ISP.

The Kia was then disabled in the lane of traffic. The driver then exited the car and was struck by a Mitsubishi Mirage, which was also traveling west on I-84, said ISP.

The driver of the Kia died from his injuries on the scene.

The Subaru driver, a 32-year-old man from Caldwell, and the Mitsubishi driver, a 25-year-old woman from Caldwell, were not transported to the hospital.

ISP states that three lanes of traffic were blocked for roughly three hours, while emergency crews worked the scene.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
