3 Teens Killed In Tragic Car Accident On Major U.S. Highway

Three teenagers were killed in a serious car crash in Southern New Jersey on Sunday.

The accident occurred around 4:17 p.m. ET on Route 55 near Glassboro in Gloucester County. Brendan Cary, 19, of Franklinville, New Jersey, was driving a Honda northbound on Route 55 with 19-year-old Dominic Reyes of Franklinville and an unidentified 17-year-old boy riding as passengers.

Cary reportedly made contact with a Honda CRV that was driving in front of him, causing the teenager to lose control of his vehicle. The car crossed into the right shoulder and struck a disabled Dodge minivan that was parked on the side of the road with a 36-year-old woman and three children inside. causing the vehicle to overturn.

Cary and Reyes were both killed in the crash, while the 17-year-old, whose name has not been released, was transported to the hospital, where he was eventually pronounced dead.

The woman in the Dodge suffered serious injuries, while the three children were treated for minor ailments.

Cary was a senior at nearby Delsea Regional High School, while Reyes graduated from the school in 2024.

“We’re trying to support everybody. We’re trying to sort of come together in this time, but it was definitely a solemn day. It was sad,” said Delsea Regional Superintendent Fran Ciociola.

“It’s so tough when you lose somebody,” Ciociola added. “Hug your loved ones because you never know what the next day brings.”

The three young men were said to be best friends, making this situation even more heartbreaking. An investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
