COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — In the early hours of March 30, 2025, a tragic hit-and-run incident on Interstate 71 resulted in the death of an adult pedestrian.
Police say the accident occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. when the individual’s vehicle spun out and collided with the median wall, leaving the car disabled.
After the crash, the adult was walking in the northbound far left lane of I-71 when they were struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver of this vehicle did not stop and fled the scene.
As the victim lay on the roadway, they were hit by a second unknown vehicle, which also left the scene without stopping.
First responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the adult dead at 3:33 a.m.
The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit is actively investigating the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek information about the vehicles involved.
