2 killed after semi hits car disabled from prior crash

GRAY COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — A tragic accident on I-40 early Saturday morning claimed the lives of two young men from Dumas.

The crash happened at about 2:16 a.m., about three miles west of Alanreed.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 2020 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling east on I-40, and a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro was disabled on the road from a previous crash.

The dark conditions and severe weather caused the big rig’s driver to not see the Camaro on the road and hit the passenger side.

The driver of the Camaro, 21-year-old Bryan Ordaz-Reyes, was not secured and was ejected during the collision.

Ordaz-Reyes and passenger, 19-year-old Braxton Amador, both of Dumas, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
