SUN VALLEY, CA, (April 13, 2025) - A pedestrian struck and killed by a semi-truck on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley Sunday morning has been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office as Alan Hartley, age 59.
Hartley’s city of residence was not known.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s initial report, Hartley was hit by a big rig around 9:25 a.m. on the northbound freeway near the Sunland Boulevard off-ramp. The 59-year-old was traveling in an SUV before exiting the vehicle and getting struck by the semi.
No information was released about the big rig’s driver.
