KALAMAZOO COUNTY - A semi-tractor trailer crashed into a car that was parked partially in the road on I-94, sheriff’s deputies said.
The driver of the car was hospitalized.
The crash was reported at 5:11 a.m. Monday, April 7, on westbound I-94, west of South Ninth Street in Kalamazoo County’s Texas Township, sheriff’s deputies said.
Sheriff’s deputies said preliminary investigation suggests the car was parked on the shoulder, partially in a traffic lane, when it was struck by the westbound semi-truck.
The car sustained heavy damage and came to a stop on the highway. The truck left the road and went into a ditch. The truck driver was not hurt.
The truck driver told police he was unable to avoid crashing into the car.
Westbound traffic remains slowed.
The crash remains under investigation. Texas Township Fire Department and Life EMS assisted at the scene.
