Police: 67-year-old man dies in hit-and-run on I-695, red truck sought

CATONSVILLE, Md. — A man died after a hit-and-run crash on the Baltimore Beltway near Wilkens Avenue on Sunday morning.

According to Maryland State Police, troopers were called around 2:20 a.m. Sunday to the Beltway’s Inner Loop near the Wilkens Avenue exit for reports of a crash involving two vehicles.

An investigation indicates the victim parked his truck on the right shoulder and was changing a flat tire when another vehicle struck him. Police said the victim’s vehicle had its hazard lights flashing and he also used a flare.

The victim, identified as Junior Dunkley, 67, of Owings Mills, was taken to Shock Trauma, where he died. The driver of the other vehicle did not stop. That vehicle was described as a red 2005-12 Toyota Tacoma that’s missing a bumper.
