Man, 48, dies after car goes into oncoming lanes and hits parked trailer near Angola

A 48-year-old Millsboro man was killed early May 16 when he crashed into a parked flatbed trailer near Angola, Delaware State Police said.

The identity of the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is being withheld by police until his family is notified.

The man was in a Nissan Sentra a little before 6 a.m., heading southbound on Hollymount Road north of John J. Williams Highway (Route 24), investigators said. At the same time, two commercial flatbed trailers were parked in the northbound section of the highway lanes: partially in the northbound shoulder and partially in the grass.

There were orange reflective traffic cones positioned alongside the trailers.

For reasons under investigation, police said, the Sentra left Hollymount Road’s south lane and entered the north shoulder, where it hit one of the trailers.

The impact pushed the first trailer into the second trailer.

Hollymount Road was closed for more than three hours while police investigated and cleared the scene.
