Man dies after being struck by vehicle following crash in southwest Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man, who was out of a vehicle after hitting a tree, died late Saturday night when he was struck by a vehicle in southwest Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on June 7, 2025, at around 11:14 p.m., officers were called to the area of Old River Road and White Oak Drive for a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found a man dead.

BPD said a preliminary investigation found that a silver Infiniti coupe was traveling southbound on Old River Road, when it veered from the roadway and collided with a tree on the median.

One person from the Infiniti got out of the disabled vehicle and went into the southbound lanes of Old River Road as a pedestrian. A blue Honda sedan traveling southbound on Old River Road struck the man.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

BPD said impairment is not a factor for the driver of the Honda.
