Man hit, killed by big rig in Highway 99 crash near Keyes

STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. — A man died Monday morning after being hit by a big rig in Stanislaus County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 9:30 a.m. on northbound Highway 99, north of Keyes Road.

CHP says its preliminary investigation found a 48-year-old man was driving a 2022 Freightliner in the slow lane while an Acura was parked on the right shoulder.

A man got out of the driver’s side of the Acura and walked directly into the path of the Freightliner. The big rig driver immediately pulled over.

CHP says the man who was hit was taken to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries and he later died.

It’s unknown if the man who was hit intentionally walked in front of the Freightliner.
